Facebook Ads DON'T work like magic

Facebook ads can be amazing

Facebook ads can be amazing. They can be the best thing you ever did for your business, and help you reach people that are interested in what you have to offer. They can also be a waste of time and money if you don't know what you're doing.

There are many factors that go into creating successful Facebook ads:

  • Your target audience (demographics and behavioral data)

  • The image/video used in your ad (it must be engaging for Facebook to show your ads)

  • Your landing page (this is where users come next)

But they can also be awful

But you can also run into problems if your ad is targeted to the wrong audience, has bad copy, images or offer.

For example:

  • Bad cost per acquisition (CPA) – You pay for each conversion but if your CPA is more than your profit margin it doesn’t matter how much traffic you get because it won't be profitable.

  • Not enough conversions – If you have a high click-through rate and low conversion rate then something is wrong with the targeting or landing page. This means that users are clicking on ads but aren't converting which means they're wasting money on clicks instead of paying off their advertising costs in sales (or leads).

How do we explain the difference?

So, should you invest time and money into Facebook ads?

The answer is that Facebook ads are just one piece of a well-crafted marketing strategy. The other pieces are:

  • A great website that entices people to visit in the first place and then guides them through the buyer's journey. This helps drive leads and sales, even if they never see your ad on Facebook.

  • Great content (like emails) that inspires people to take action on your website, so they become customers.

  • Good SEO (search engine optimization) so your site appears at or near the top of search results for relevant keywords, which gets traffic from Google or Bing searches—not just Facebook ads! And let's be honest here: if you have crappy SEO, no amount of advertising will fix it.

Facebook ads don't work like magic

Some people think that Facebook ads are like magic. They see the success stories, and they think it’s going to happen for them too.

But the truth is that Facebook ads don’t work like that—they don’t fix all your marketing problems, they won’t make your website look better, and they aren't a way to solve a problem with your product or service.

Facebook ads can be effective if you know what you're doing. But if you haven't done proper research on what kind of person is most likely interested in your product/service and how to target them effectively with Facebook ads (and other social media platforms), then chances are high that you'll fail at generating conversions from these ads—and waste money in the process!

They're just one piece of a well-crafted marketing strategy

  • Facebook ads are only one piece of a well-crafted marketing strategy.

  • They're not magic, and they don't work on their own.

  • You need to look at the whole picture and think about how your campaign fits into it.

Your goal is to make money, not spend it—so don't forget to consider all aspects of your business when planning out your campaign. Perhaps, the best approach is to review your customer journey and how your marketing funnel is tackling goals in each and every step.

There's some science behind how the ads work

Like many, your reaction to the term "algorithm" is probably something along the lines of "a complex formula or set of formulas for solving a problem." That's a fair interpretation. But it's also important to note that an algorithm is more than just a mathematical construct—it's an idea that has been around since at least 800 BCE. That's when Euclid wrote his Elements, which included methods for finding prime numbers and solving equations using algebraic equations (note: this was not called Algebra at the time).

So what does all this have to do with Facebook Ads? Well, if you haven't already noticed, ads on Facebook change sometimes (sometimes often). But why? It turns out that algorithms are used by Facebook—and other social media platforms—to determine which ads are shown based on your preferences or interests. These algorithms use data from cookies and other data sources stored in your browser to determine who is more likely to click on certain ads versus others. So while these algorithms may seem like magic because they're always changing without us knowing how they work exactly (other than having a general sense), they're actually just tools used by companies like Facebook who need enough data available before making any decisions about advertising placement within their platform.

Other pieces of your marketing puzzle are critical as well

There are other pieces of your marketing puzzle that are critical as well. For example, if you're offering a service or product, then you need a good product that offers value. You should have a responsive website that loads quickly and is mobile friendly. Your content needs to be engaging and relevant along with having social proof and reviews from past customers or clients (if applicable). If you're selling physical products like clothing or shoes, then the photos and descriptions should be clear so people know exactly what they are getting without having any questions left unanswered at all!

You have to have a good product or service that makes people satisfied and happy in order to turn them into repeat customers who will spread the word about your company, helping you grow without having to spend even more on advertising

You can’t fake a great product or service. People will know the difference between quality and junk, even if you try to tell them otherwise. If you have a good product or service, people will tell other people about it, which is how word-of-mouth advertising works. The same goes for bad products or services; when customers are dissatisfied with their experiences with your company, they also spread the word about that experience and how much it disappointed them (or made them angry). Remembe Warren Buffer once said "it takes 20 years to build a reputation, and just a minute to destroy it".

To grow your business without having to spend even more money on advertising, therefore, focus on creating good products/services in the first place — so that when someone uses them they feel satisfied and happy. Then those happy customers will become repeat customers who continue using their favorite products/services from your company — all without any additional advertising spending by you!

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that Facebook ads are all you need to create a thriving business!

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that Facebook ads are all you need to create a thriving business!

There are tons of factors that contribute to your success, and Facebook can only do so much. You need a good website, good content, and a good product or service. So many people go with "let's just advertise on Facebook" as their entire marketing strategy because they think it will magically bring them customers—but it won't.
